This is my favorite bread recipe of all time. It has never failed me and I keep turning back to it when I am craving some good, homemade bread.
Ingredients:
2 cups very warm water
2/3 cup sugar
2 packets yeast
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup oil
6 cups all purpose flour
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl dissolve the sugar in the very warm water
Add yeast, stir and let sit until yeast mixture turns foamy
Add salt and oil - stir
Add flour one cup at a time while stirring.
Place dough onto floured surface and knead until smooth.
Grease a bowl and put dough in the bowl turning once to coat the dough.
Let rise for about an hour in a warm setting.
Divide in half, punch down/knead, shape into loaves, place into bread pan and let rise another 30 minutes or until dough has risen approx 1 inch above pan.
Bake on 350 for 30-40 minutes.
Tip: The easiest way to slice bread is to turn it upside down.
